Summer concerts at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
Held on Sunday evenings at about 17:30 from December to April, this spectacular setting ensures a memorable evening, featuring diverse music, across the spectrum.
North Sea Jazz Festival
The North Sea Jazz Festival is known all over the world because of the many musical genres it has to offer, ranging from traditional New Orleans jazz, swing bop, free jazz, fusion, avant-garde jazz and electronic jazz; to blues, gospel, funk, soul, R&B, hip hop, world beat and Latin. All of which are presented during a single weekend in April.
Cape Argus Cycle Tour
The Cape Argus Cycle Tour is the world’s largest timed cycling event : This gruelling 106 km race to Cape Point and back attracts thousands of competitions from around the world.
Mother City Queer Festival
The Mother City Queer Festival is an extremely decadent, pre-Xmas bash, culminating in a themed costume party in the Convention Centre. All are welcome.
The Cape Minstrels carnival, held on the 3rd of January each year, this traditional Malay band parade is a sight to behold with loud music and colourful costumes.
The Big Walk
The Big Walk is an annual event in October or early November. Walk to keep fit, walk to raise money for charity. Up to 30,000 walkers take part. The Discovery Cape Times Big Walk is South Africa’s oldest mass participation sporting event and globally it is the second oldest to the Tour de France.
